Tips And Tricks For Learning Web Design

Web design is very nice when the designer of a site has an idea of what he is doing. A good web design can make the difference between a successful website and an unpopular one. Knowledge is vital to good design.

Ensure that links are visible and displayed in a prominent locations. Menus will make it a lot easier to navigate your site. Make sure each page in your site so people can find their way no matter where they are.

Make it possible for users to cancel a given action if they choose to. An action may refer to signing up for e-mail notifications, like a newsletter. You will inevitably lose repeat customers if you don't allow them to follow through on a purchase that they are in the middle of completing.

While it is useful in delivering a more interactive experience, a lot of Internet surfers are going to have difficulty with it. Each of the many popular web browsers out there are frequently updated, and your visitors will be using many different versions of each software platform. Not all visitors have the latest version of his browser. Both of these elements can determine whether a user is able to access your site.

Put the sign-up box near the top of your site so they can easily find it, yet not interfering with the page's purpose. Make sure to only deliver the newsletter to people who have explicitly requested it!

Tips for running online research discussions.

Online space increasingly permeates our day-to-day lives and we find ourselves communicating more through social networks, it is interesting to consider how the internet is affecting the way we perceive ourselves.

Offline, we are defined by our physicality, restricted by our bodies and our behaviours. The online space allows us to break free from these restrictions. If you are reading this it is likely you have an online presence of some sort. This could be a profile on a social network like Facebook or Twitter, an account on a forum or message-board, or a presence on Ebay or a dating website. It is also likely that, in one way or another, the way you present yourself on these sites differs in some way from the way you would present yourself in real life.

Our online lives allow us greater freedom – to be creative, to meet new people, but also to be antisocial, antagonistic and dishonest, often without consequence in the real world. Online research discussions are as susceptible to this as any other online platform. However, the suspension of social hierarchies affords us more confidence to be outspoken and to voice our opinions, which can be of major benefit to a research discussion.

Here at OnePoll we do most of our qualitative research online and are excited about the direction this approach is taking. When conducting research of this nature, it is important to make sure that the data collected is accurate and honest.

What follows are some basic principles to apply that will make sure  your online environment is comfortable and will ensure good quality responses.

=> Create a safe environment - Firstly it is important to cultivate an online environment that feels safe, where participants won’t feel personally judged on their responses. At the recruiting stage you should design an articulation test to judge the engagement level of the participant. The way they write and present themselves will be an indication of their character – whether they are friendly and laid back, colloquial, or serious and factual. A mixture of both of these kinds of people is ideal for a qualitative research project. What needs to be avoided is rudeness and anti-social behavior which could make the other participants feel uncomfortable.

=> Minimize member bias - This is another element to consider when screening your participants. Your project will be on a certain subject; while you want your participants to have some knowledge in the area you are studying so they can contribute effectively, you also need to try and ensure that the people you pick for your project are not strongly linked or involved in the area of study. For example, if you are researching attitudes towards a number of supermarket chains it is important to the validity of your results to make sure that there aren't any supermarket employees present in your research community, as they may well have a biased opinion for one supermarket or another.

=> Manage the community - We like to think of all our online research projects as communities. An online community is like a social network. Over time your participants will form bonds and become more involved, but this may take time. That is why it is important that the community is managed correctly to help stem the conversation and tease out interesting discussion routes to help bring the community together. The researcher(s) managing the conversation need to be proactive in the discussions, always driving forward and encouraging the participants to get involved.

=> Explore different points of view
Build a fuller picture of the subject by questioning your participants from several different angles. This will help you to flesh out the minutiae of their feelings for the subject. Where a single-point approach may allow your participants to talk around the truth of their feelings, questioning from several angles will allow you to triangulate their answers for an accurate representation.

=> Use one-on-one interviews
Though the majority of subjects will be a suitable fit for an asynchronous online discussion, other more sensitive or taboo subjects may be better suited to an interview format. Speaking only to a researcher, the participant should feel more secure. Away from the rest of the group they have less reason to be dishonest in their answers. The researcher needs to be friendly, understanding but also assertive; this combination will help to create a productive relationship in the interview between interviewer and interviewee.

Safety and Security Tips on using Your Pocket PC!

Pocket PCs are small devices but is very powerful that it holds almost all of your activities, personal information, and business matters inside its bin. For executives and aficionados, Pocket PCs are already part of their lives. They can’t leave the house without their most priced Pocket PCs. Connecting to the web or checking an email are just one of the many wonders of Pocket PCs. With all these, have you ever considered the security of your Pocket PC?

Convenience equates to risk. Admit it. A Pocket PC is one very convenient way of connecting to the world without just a click of a button. It offers more possibilities attached with convenience. Although, these added conveniences puts an owner at risk. In addition to security problems and threats that you have to face regarding your desktop computer, you can have the same problem with your wireless device through networking.

The smaller the size of your device, the easier it is for your Pocket PC to become more vulnerable to the naked eye – stealing it or file corruption. You have to protect your device in three security levels namely: network, data and physical.

Network security refers to the assurance that the device will not fall into the wrong hands and other people won’t be able to use it to tap into your network. To avoid such internal problems, you have to take some steps in protecting your entire network by considering some of the factors below.

• Disabling WiFi and Bluetooth connection when not in use. This is helpful in saving your device from unwanted outside connections, increasing the life of the battery and stabilizes further security.

• Use notification and monitoring programs to track and detect hidden activities done in your Pocket PC.

• Administrators must establish a governed policy for the handheld device that will connect to the network.

• Always update your LAN driver in order to use the WPA or WiFi Protected Access instead of using WEP.

• Use private networking virtually to be able to connect to your company network.

Data security refers to the assurance of the device to be safe in case it falls to the wrong, prying hands. Even if the OS is accessed, you’ll have the feeling that your business and personal data will not be accessed. Managing this can be easy by doing the following:

• Store your sensitive data on your memory card then remove it when not in use. Make sure that the memory card itself doesn’t get lost.

• Don’t allow any access to applications that might be used to read important data. Use a software like PDA Defense.

• Always see to it that sensitive data are encrypted wherever it is stored.

Physical security refers to the protection of the device from theft or loss and prevents OS accessibility in cases of the device falling into other people’s hands. This is also considered as your first line of defense.

• Store and carry the device securely. Never let your handheld device just hang around your pocket or kept inside a shoulder bag. It’s better to keep it very close to the body as possible or if not, put it in a briefcase that’s also secured with a pin number or attach a PDA case to your belt.

• Prevent OS accessibility. You can at least put on a password or security pin code before opening the device. Use a very strong supported password.

What Newbies Need To Know About Using Pay Per Click Ads To Generate Traffic

You can have the best looking web site in the world promoting a fantastic product, but if your potential customers don't know about it, you won't get any traffic or sales. This is the single biggest problem facing all internet marketers. This is especially so for newbies who frequently get discouraged and give up their attempts to make money online.

What Is Pay per Click

This is one of the more expensive methods of generating traffic, but provides an instant stream of visitors to your site. There are a number of companies offering pay per click advertising, such as Google, Yahoo and Overture, to name but a few. The most well known is the Google Adwords program, which I will use to illustrate the principles of pay per click.

You may have noticed the ads displayed on the right hand side of Google's search page results. Each ad is associated with a “keyword phrase” (e.g ladies golf clubs) and is displayed next to the search results when someone searches for those keywords.

These ads are known as contextual ads because they are displayed on pages where the content is closely related to the keywords associated with the ad.

You will also come across these ads when you visit certain websites. The same principle applies and the theme / topic of the page matches the keywords associated with the ad. In this instance, the webmaster will receive a payment from Google for displaying their ads.  This program is known as Adsense.

How Does Pay Per Click work

Place your ads with Google Adwords and pay for every click that takes a visitor to your site.
The price per click is determined by the popularity of the keyword and its position in the list. Prices generally vary between a few cents and $5 but can be very much more for some keywords.

There is no fixed price for a specific keyword or the position where it's displayed on the page. The advertiser specifies the maximum amount they are prepared to pay and then Google uses this and other information from all the other advertisers to work out the position of each ad. Exactly how this is done is outside the scope of this article and many books have been written on the subject.

You can open a free “Adwords” account with Google Adwords. They have very good online help screens and examples to help you set up your campaigns.

If this method appeals to you, you can at a later stage spend a lot more time specializing in the numerous strategies that have been devised to make this technique successful. In common with all advertising, the secret is to continually test and improve on the performance of your ads. The bottom line is quite simply, if you make more profit than the cost of your ads, you are on a winner. If not, stop immediately and try something else!

A good idea is to get some help in the form of step by step instructions and coaching videos designed specifically for newbies.

Tips On Choosing A Digital Camera

Your camera is your most important part of your photography business. Therefore it is most important for you to choose your digital camera carefully. Firstly think about what line of photography business you are planning to go into. Different areas of photography may require different features for your digital camera.

Make a list of the features that you need. Prioritize them and decide what is absolutely necessary. When you first begin your business you may not need an elaborate camera with all the bells and whistles and it is important to have a good idea before you go shopping, otherwise it is very easy to get carried away.

Once you are armed with your list you can now go shopping! The first place to check out is the Internet. Check the ‘price search engine’ websites like EBay and Amazon.com. They will give you a list of the best prices. This will save you a lot of time. You can find information on a variety of topics about digital cameras, from the many websites online. Look up the particular field of photography you will be specializing in, to teach more about the features you may need.

You can also shop at warehouses to get a better price. However be careful to check these out carefully as sometimes you will need to buy a larger number of cameras to get a discount and also the warehouses are sometimes selling off old models. Be careful and remember to do your research to get the best deals and ensure you are getting what you paid for.

It is wise to take extra care when you are choosing your digital camera, as this is the most important piece of equipment you will be buying for your photography business. Always check your budget carefully so that you do not get carried away and overspend. At the same time try to buy the best camera that you can afford. Always do your research to bet best value for money. Remember that as your business grows you can easily up grade your equipment, including your camera.

New Strategy On How To Slash Your Pay-Per-Click Advertising Cost By Half Immediately.

The following report includes some fascinating information about Pay-Per-Click Advertising--info you can use, not just the old stuff they used to tell you.

Here's a simple keyword building technique:

I use to find the maximum possible variations of a keyword phrase. I use it predominantly for bidding on keywords at Google Adwords, however it can also be very useful for building lists for use in search engine optimization.
For example let's use the phrase "horses for sale". Here's how the various permutations of this keyword phrase would look. I use the free Keyword Tumbler tool for doing this. horses for salehorses sale forfor horses salefor sale horsessale horses forsale for horses

As you can see there are a maximum of six possible ways a three word phrase could be entered into a search engine. Now you need to find out if these permutations are actually being searched for. This is where the Wordtracker service comes into its own. Click here to get a free Wordtracker trial. Go to Wordtracker now and in the "Keyword Universe" choose the database called "Precise". Then in the right hand panel enter the six different keyword combinations, and hit the "Proceed" button. Wordtracker now tells us that out of our six combinations, two of them appear in its database (NOTE: at the time of writing it did). They are...horses for salefor sale horses

You might be thinking that you could have figured this out for yourself. But its vital that you understand you need to stop second-guessing markets and users behaviors based on your own opinions and assumptions. Use these tools like Wordtracker to actually tell you how the markets are behaving. I have sometimes found three and four phrase permutations using this method. Phrases that to me appeared "stupid" if entered in the search engines... but someone, somewhere is doing it! This why you need to do this step and NOT guess the permutations.

Also searchers sometimes enter a keyword phrase using the "space" and the "+" sign. E.G. "1 2 3" can be entered in as "1+2+3" and also "1 +2 +3". This is great tip if you want to use your keyword lists on Google Adwords.
So taking our example keyword phrase lets see how many permutations we can now generate.
horses for salefor sale horses

I trust that what you've read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.
horses+for+salefor+sale+horses
horses +for +salefor +sale +horses
Now let's use misspellings to come up with even more keyword combinations. A great tool for this is Misspelled Keywords.

Simply enter "horses for sale" and select from six ways to find misspellings. Dictionary lookup, keyboard mistakes, trim first/last character, swap character, double characters, and... add 's' ending.

For this example I only selected the "dictionary lookup" and "keyboard mistakes". The tool returned 1360 possible misspelling combinations. If I'd used all the selections, it would have come back with over 8500. Just for one phrase!
Now let's enter these misspellings into Wordtracker's Precise database like we did above. The results? Wordtracker returns the following (NOTE: at the time of writing):
horses foe salehorses fpr salehorses for sailhorses for slae
Which now get turned into twelve new terms:
horses foe salehorses fpr salehorses for sailhorses for slae
horses+foe+salehorses+fpr+salehorses+for+sailhorses+for+slae
horses +foe +salehorses +fpr +salehorses +for +sailhorses +for +slae

Finally you are going to want to join the words together, so "horses for sale" becomes "horsesforsale", and yes this appeared in the Wordtracker database.

Using the method of keyword generation outlined above, what started out as one keyword phrase, "horses for sale" has now turned into 19 keyword phrases you can use on Google Adwords. Phrases that are actually being used by surfers in the search engines.

So there you have it, how to build adgroups which are TIGHTLY focused on the keyword phrase you are wanting to bid on.You can't predict when knowing something extra about Pay-Per-Click Advertising will come in handy. I wish that this will benefit you very much.
