Introducing the Photoshop 3D Workspace

New world of 3D in Photoshop! Whether you are a seasoned Photoshop user who wants to learn a little
more about the new 3D environment in Photoshop CS3 Extended or a 3D designer looking to improve your creations by using the tools in Photoshop, this book has something for you.

The 3D environment in Photoshop is limited compared to the 3D environments that can be found in modeling programs. That’s because Photoshop isn’t meant to create, redesign, or even animate 3D objects or scenes. What it is meant for is what it already does an incredible job of doing: using its powerful filters, styles, and other paint tools to improve the way a 3D image looks dramatically and to create fantastic composites. I’m going to start at the very beginning, showing you the basics of the new 3D workspace, and how to manipulate objects in the workspace. Then I’ll show you how you can change the look of a 3D object by editing its textures or applying filters and styles to it. I’ll wrap up by showing you how you can use all these tools in conjunction with masks to create image composites using 3D objects.

Because I want you to be able to follow along, and to some extent create the same effects that I create, I use the 3D models that come with your Photoshop installer DVD. If you didn’t buy Photoshop in a bundle, these
bonus content files are contained on the same DVD as the Photoshop application. If you did buy Photoshop in a bundle, with Design Premium for example, you received a content DVD as well as an application DVD that includes the 3D models. Every time I use a model provided by Photoshop, I will remind you that you can find it in the bonus content, and I will tell you how to browse to it.

Working with 3D objects in Photoshop will soon become second nature for you. The 3D models provided by Photoshop are well done but very basic, especially in the textures (or lack of textures) provided. This makes them perfect for learning how the tools in Photoshop can really enhance how they look. As you learn new concepts, please play around with other models provided by Photoshop or some of your own. The techniques I am going to show you will work just as well on sophisticated 3D models as the simple ones you’ll be using in this book. First things first: Before you can have fun with 3D models, you have to start at the beginning. This chapter covers an introduction to 3D basics, including 3D file types, the 3D environment, and an in-depth overview of the Layers palette.

Advertise On Social Networks

Another good option for advertising your website is utilizing social networks. There are
two major networks that I would recommend you test. These are the two largest social
networks available on the web. Both have opened PPC advertising to websites looking
to promote their products or services to their users.

Myspace:- https://advertise.myspace.com

Myspace receives millions of visitors per day and is the largest social networking
website. They have recently opened their doors to PPC advertising. Many have reported
good results with their campaigns. One of the good features with Myspace advertising is
the ability to target based on demographics, sex, age etc. You can send highly targeted
traffic to your website.

As you can see they have a 4 step system where you create your ad, target your
audience, set your budget and schedule, and then simply monitor your ads
performance. It’s pretty straight forward.

One thing I would recommend for advertising on Myspace is to ensure your ad is unique
in its approach. When creating your ad graphic it’s best to act as if you are “talking” to
the reader one on one instead of just saying “Lose Weight Now” you can say “I know
you want to lose weight, I can show you how”. The latter is more likely to get clicks as it
interacts to user by speaking to him or her directly.

Facebook:- http://www.facebook.com/advertising

Just like Myspace, Facebook also has an advertising PPC platform. It was launched
before Myspace and has had quite a bit of success. There have been many guides that
tout about how much money can be made through advertising on Facebook.
In a short period after uploading your Facebook ad you can get a flood of traffic. There is
one problem with Facebook though, and it’s that their review team is very selective in
what they approve. It’s best to log into Facebook (register an account) and review the
ads that are being shown. This will give you an idea of the type of ads that can be
shown.

Website Advertising Guide - Advertising with Pay Per Click Search Engines

Let’s start with the more obvious advertising option and that is pay per click search
engines. To make things simple, we’ll first focus on the top tier pay per click search
engines which are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. These three search engines are by far the
largest PPC engines that can deliver a swarm of traffic in a very short period of time.
Let’s analyze some information regarding each search engine.

Google-http://adwords.google.com

Google is considered to be the largest search engine, and as a result should be able to
deliver the most traffic to your website. There is a minimum bid of 0.1 cents per click
with any Google campaign that you start, but there are some keywords that may require
a higher bid. Keep in mind that your actual bid rate will vary based on your quality score.
Before this begins to start sounding confusing, your quality score is simply Google’s
analysis of the relevancy of the page you are advertising. Let’s say you are advertising a
weight loss product, and you’ve placed a bid for the keyword “fast weight loss”. If you
are aiming to get a good quality score, then you should have that keyword within the
page you are advertising. It’s always best to first analyze your keywords, and build a
landing page that is relevant to the keywords you are bidding on. This way your quality
score is high, and it will help you maintain a bid rate that is below your minimum bid
rate.
When you go to the Google’s signup page for Adwords, you’ll see two options for
registering an account.
