Web Design Takes On Back Button And How To Take Advantage Of It

As a web designer, you should know that the Back Button is one of the most vital buttons found on any web page. You should not rely on your web design company to inform you about this. If you have been browsing through web design companies and sites for a long time now, you will most likely realize this on your own.

Unfortunately, most web designers seem to take the Back Button for granted when they implement their web design. It is not too uncommon to see a "back to home/start" or simply "back" links incorporated into pages being designed. However, unless you make sure that these links have built-in logic to know exactly which page your visitor was before they clicked on these links (as the highly-efficient Back Button does), these back links you put into your pages will seem like sham that gets by only by guessing the path which your online visitors took.

How People Browse the Web:

Most online users visit a web site to simply skim through it. If they think that the site does not give them what they need or does not contain any interesting information to read, they simply leave. That said, there is no quicker way out of any web page than, yes, the Back button! People don't seem to even realize that they click on it every so often. They simply sit and browse through site after site with their mouse pointing right over the scroll bar area ready to scroll up and down. And then, unless the site has something interesting for them, they pull their mouse just right up to the upper left hand of the browser to go back to where they were previously.

Do Not Try To Impact This Negatively

All web designers have one thing in common in relation to this. Whichever web design company you belong to or whichever tool you use, you definitely would not like them to leave your webpage. In desperate attempt to do this, some web designers come up with web design strategies to prevent visitors from leaving the site. Some do things such as pop the page into a chromeless window with no back button. Some even close down the original window to open a new one that does not have controls. This can be really annoying so that the image you will create for your web design company will not be pleasing. Most importantly, it will not make your site web design more usable or interesting since you have crippled your customers with the standard methods to get around. As soon as they figure out for themselves how they can leave your site, they will do so immediately and will most likely not return. You would not want your client or your web design company to get ruined because of this, wouldn't you? So, try not to get that back button away from your readers. Instead, take advantage of it.

How to Take Advantage

Taking advantage of the back button does not mean putting in text that goes "click the back button in the upper left of your browser to go back." Your visitors know this already, and you do not want them to feel stupid by giving them instructions to do something that simple. Instead, you should only keep in mind that they are bound to use the back button and prepare for that.

Here are some ways that you can plan for this:

• When web designing put your branding or advertising right near the back button. Putting your brand right up there will give it more attention that is not as likely anywhere else.

• Make the items near the area clickable. Your logo should first and foremost be clickable. Besides that, you should also make sure that the other text or graphic elements at the upper left area of your page are clickable as well. If you do it this way, they just might go somewhere else related on your site if they miss the back button.

• Take advantage of server logs as well to check where they came from before finding you. Your web design company and client alike will highly appreciate this information. Not only that, you can also use this as well. If you, for example, know what your visitors usually go back to, you can directly address that site on your page, maybe even with dynamic elements that could only display when they are coming from that particular location. For instance, someone who is coming from a search engine may not know how to search your site.

Remember in your web design that your site will be much more helpful if you include details such as how to search on your pages. Doing this might get them to stay longer, much to the appreciation of your client and your web design company.

Using Scrollbars In Your Web Design

Do you like to design your website with scroll bars? That might not seem very important, however it is. In reality, website usability and the question of scrolling is one of the most important ones out there.

One of those everlasting questions of web design is whether users are okay with scrolling, or whether they dislike it. In fact, the answer lies somewhere the middle: a lot of users don't mind scrolling, but there are plenty of users who still don't scroll. You should be building your website so that scrolling isn't necessary for basic usability, but gives additionl value.

Ever since the early period of the web, people have become much more open to scrollable pages, thanks to mouse wheels and similar gadgets. These let them scroll with a quick flip, instead of the hassle it used to take. Therefore, your visitors will be much more eager to scroll on your website than they used to be, and this works to your benefit.

The answer, when it comes to scrolling, is to be nice about it. Place everything significant in a place that allows it to be found with no scrolling even on small screens. Give your users the option of whether to click or scroll, by connecting to the individual parts of the article at the top of the page in a table of contents.

Regardless you should keep your scrolling perpendicular. Left-to-right scrolling on the web is not advised. Users are not expecting it, mouse wheels cannot do it, and web browsers aren't built for it. In short, it is not a good idea. Every once in a while a designer will attempt to make it work, only to produce a frustrating website. So far, there hasn't been a good horizontally scrolling website.

Another ordinary design error when it comes to scroll bars is to think that you can do it better than the web browser, and use Flash to create abnormal scroll bars. While you might like the look you generate, it will certainly be less useful to your visitors than a normal scroll bar would have been.

If you use flash on your scroll bar it won't be instantly familiar as what it is. It's not likely to work with mouse wheels or keyboard shortcuts, and you probably won't even let users scroll by clicking in the accurate way they want. You end up designing a scroll bar that's perfect for you, but annoying for everyone else. Even though you might think the original scroll bars are ugly, people know how they work, and they're used to them.

Even if you dislike scroll bars, it's always a bad idea to replace them with pagination. An article can effortlessly become three or four pages long with the user having to click a 'next' button to get from one page to the next. If you think users dislike scrolling, then you have to understand that they dislike waiting for new pages to load even more: if your site needs them to wait for more than a few seconds between pages, they'll get rid of articles even if they're in the middle of reading them.

Uncover why most website designers and Internet Marketing Do Not Mix

Website development is an important and crucial first step to creating an online business. The investment made in your website design can be a large investment and you probably want a website that is an extension of your business and display your products or service in a professional way.
Beware, just because a website is amazing to look at, this does not mean it work well with all of your Internet Marketing efforts.

Most of the time the websites are created with out the thought or planning of good quality content, sites are also employing mainly flash design as well as complicated navigation set up making exploring your site frustrating.Surprisingly Internet Marketing and Website Design seem to be clashing rather than complimenting each other. Do you ever ask yourself why isn’t your website performing well online no matter what you do?

What causes a beautiful, appealing website to fall short in search engines?

Most cases seem to point to the fact that some website designers do not consider the importance of Internet Marketing when putting together websites for there customers. Some web designers seem to be strictly focused on the graphical components and forget or do know about the Search Engine Marketing, Internet Marketing aspects of most websites.

Internet Marketing may be less of an importance if site is mainly a Business to Business website but in the ecommerce business, websites really depend on SEO Internet Marketing for its overall success.

Websites that fall short in Internet Marketing can lead to very expensive and needed redesigns for your site, changing different components of your pages to make it search engine friendly as well as easy navigation for site exploration although some changes may be less extreme than others. This can cause major set backs in business goals. Build and design your website around the content not the other way around.

Before you decide on a website designer, make positive that the design will be user friendly as well as friendly for Internet Marketing procedures. Shop around, ask questions, see if the designer understands the importance of certain SEO priorities and keep them informed about what your looking to accomplish.

Design a site that is easily expandable as well as easily adjusted to fit your Internet Marketing, SEO needs or have your SEO Consultant suggest a web designer to work with, insuring everything will function the way your website was intended to function. This just may help prevent costing you much more than you ever expected and it will also help your business goals to remain on the track to success.

Keep Them Coming For More – What Blog Readers Really Want And More!

Blogging has become a very popular as more people turn to writing online journals to express their thoughts and interest. Most blog writers have some sort of following by readers, unless they choose to keep their blogs private. Even if the blog is designed just for your family or a group of friends, it is important to understand your readers and what they want.

A blog, or Weblog, is an online journal or diary where people of all ages and from all over the world can express their thoughts, opinions, interests and maybe just random thoughts. Businesses also use blogs to communicate with their customers and it is proving to be an effective form of communication. Whether you write a blog for your company or just for other readers, you readers rely on you for updating your blog on a regular basis.
When you get ready to keep a blog, think about what your readers want from a blog. One important part of keeping readers interested in blogs is to update frequently. If blogs are not updated on a regular basis, they will find another blog to read. It is important to keep your blog current and to provide the updates to your reader. You might even think about including a subscription or email option to your blog. When a reader subscribes to your blog, they will automatically receive updates when you add a new entry to your blog. This helps them know when you have new material on your blog.

Another way to keep your readers coming back to your blog is to target your audience. If you are a pet lover and write about your life with your five dogs, then you need to find others with similar interest. Some groups will not be interested in your story. Find your audience by visiting web groups or communities that have to do with your main subject. Tell everyone you know about what you blog about and provide a link to your writing. If a reader is interested in the subject you are writing about, it is more likely that they will come back and visit often. It is important to remember that there are literally thousands of blogs on the Internet on virtually any topic. You want to grab your reader and keep them coming back.

You are also enticing your readers by coming back for more if you use your blog wisely. If you want to write private thoughts, then do not share your writing with others. If you do want to share, be careful about what you write about. If you embarrass people you know through your writing, then you are not using your blog wisely. Protect the people around you and do not try to get even with people through your blog. Readers that do not know you are not interested in reading your nasty posts to your enemies. Keep your blogs fun and entertaining for anyone who wants to read them.

Also, when you blog, keep your readers interested by having an easy to use blog. Sometimes large pictures or downloads can take up a lot of time and your reader may not want to open large files. If you want to include pictures, links, or downloads make sure they work and will not slow a computer down. You can also make your blog easy to use by using a blog-hosting site that cuts down on advertising and pop-ups. Most of the time, those types of advertising will annoy your reader. When you choose a blog site, check into the types of features that the site can offer. Some of these sites that avoid ads and pop ups may cost, but are worth it if you want your readers to have a good blog experience on your site.

You can also ensure that your readers will come back to your blog if you treat your readers with respect. They may not like something you write about and if they leave a negative comment, do not flame your readers. Also, you readers will appreciate your writing more if you leave nice comments to them or even send them a quick email thanking them for visiting your blog. This is a great way to build communication with your readers and will keep them coming back for your blog.

How-To set up an Blog and RSS Feed through an easy to follow Step-by-Step tutorial that anyone can follow.

So basically, what I'm trying to say is by the time you finish reading this article you'll be a master at setting up your own Blogs and RSS Feeds in a matter of minutes by simply following my simple 'Step-by-Step' instructions below.
With that said, Buckle Up, put your thinking cap on, grab yourself a beverage and get ready to learn.

Know lets go to Step:

Step #1. Go set-up an account with Blogger.com.

This is probably the easiest part of all, which is simply setting up an Blogger.com account at http://www.blogger.com.
Go there right now. It will take you to Blogger.com's homepage.
Once there, you'll see an orange arrow pointing to the right that says..."Create Your Blog Now" ... click on it.

Step #2. Creating your account with Blogger.com. If you thought Step #1 was easy than Step #2 will be a breeze. Simply select a Username and Password that you'll remember followed by your Email Address.(You don't have to use your primary email address, you can use a Free web-based email account like Hotmail or Yahoo! if you like. Your choice.) Then check the box that says "I accept the Terms of Service". Now proceed by clicking on the orange arrow that says... "Continue".

Step #3. Naming your Blog.(Very IMPORTANT!) Now, depending on what your Blog is about your going to want to use your target 'Keywords' within the name of your Blog, its description and the URL.

And there's a good reason for this simply because this is what the Search Engine spiders are going to see first.
They'll first see them within your Blog name which is at the top of your Blog that your visitors see, they'll see them within your description of your Blog and then they'll see them within your Blog URL that you choose.
Why is this SOoooo important?

By using your 'Target Keywords' within those areas I just outlined, thats what the SE's will use to index your Blog under so when someone does a search for those target keywords, guess whose Blog will pop-up within the results depending on your competition?

That's right, Yours! The SE's will also use those area's I outlined for your SE listing within there results index.
Here's an example for a quick 'Case-Study' for you.
This is one of my Blogs I have.
Go to: http://plrarticlecollecton.blogspot.com/

You'll notice my Blog title, description and URL all have the 'Keyword Phrase'... Internet Marketing Tactic.
To take this a step further, I want you to go visit these search engines MSN, Yahoo! and AlltheWeb and type in "internet marketing tactics" within there search boxes so you can see where my Blog sits within those SE's so you can see the importance of having your Target keywords within those area's I mentioned earlier.

MSNhttp://www.msn.com
Yahoo!http://www.yahoo.com
AlltheWebhttp://www.alltheweb.com

In the MSN SE results my Blog is #1 for that keyword phrase, in Yahoo! I'm #11(not bad) and in AlltheWeb I'm #18.
Of course these positions will very in time but just as long as you get the point of WHY you need to use your Target keywords within those 3 areas. Lets move on. Now, your last step for Step #3 is to simply type in the 'Verification Code'. Once you've done that, click on the orange arrow below that says... "Continue".

Step #4. Choosing your template. If everything went well in and that Blog name you chose isn't taken you should be looking at a bunch of Blog templates Blogger.com offers.Simply select the one you like most and then click "Continue". CONGRATULATIONS!

You just created your first Blog and completed. You should now be looking at an orange arrow that says... "Start Posting". Click on it and it'll take you to where you can start posting whatever it is you want. Now that you have set-up your Blog your probably wondering... "where does RSS fit into this formula?"

Step #5. Locating your RSS Feed URL. What can I say, I always leave the Best for last. Assuming your still within the Blogger.com 'Posting' area you'll notice a bunch of tabs at the top labelled, Posting, Settings, Template and View Blog.

Click on the 'Settings' tab.
This will take you to a sub-menu with a bunch of other options.
Out of all those options click on the one that says... "Site Feed".
And there it is.

It should look something like this:
http://plrarticlecollecton.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

This is the URL you'll want to use to promote your RSS Feed with to the RSS search engines and directories so that everytime you make a post, the RSS SE's and directories will be 'Automatically' notified and updated with your latest information bringing your Blog more exposure to your target audience.
That about sums it up for this tutorial, but, just before I go I'll leave you with a few articles I wrote earlier on RSS promotion to help you get the Most out of your Blogs and RSS Feeds.
Now that you are armed with this information that I just revealed to you, you should have no problem setting up and getting the MOST out of your Blogs and RSS Feeds.
