How the Internet Has Forever Changed Marketing

In the last few years, consumers have changed the way they find what they want, and where they want to get it. Business supplies, concert tickets, and that perfect gift are now on the web, and that's where many people are going. In the past consumers have responded to direct mail, cold calling, and trade shows in addition to conventional advertising. Those methods are less effective than the internet and also harmful to the environment through toxic ink, paper waste, fuel costs, and other excess energy consumption. With the use of search engines, it is now easy to filter out gimmicks and find what we are looking for directly. The tools are at the tips of our fingers and unlimited. We have access to search engines, social networking sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter), and blogs where we can find information as well as reviews on those services or products we are researching. Therefore, marketers must change their tactics to accommodate how the internet is changing business.

Inbound Marketing is now far more effective. The internet and the emergence of sites such as Google, MSN, Yahoo, Digg and other sites, allow consumers to research what they are looking for without involving the companies directly. "The internet has changed the dynamics of the business world, necessitating from 'old marketing' techniques to 'new marketing' techniques" (hubspot). Business owners now need to ensure that their website is optimized for this. Website content matters, as well as the location of key words or phrases. To optimize a website, key words must be in the page title, headings, URL, and in the page text. Keeping content fresh and updated is another good way to increase search engine rankings, especially when used in conjunction with viral videos, podcasts, and YouTube videos.

By adding simple tools such as a blog, a site owner creates a unique opportunity for search engine optimization (SEO). However, keep in mind that the blog set up with its own webpage for the best results. Websites are also setting up RSS Feeds. This allows consumers to have their favorite websites send them updates, as opposed to going to each website and searching for the information. Most people have very busy lifestyles and don't have time to waste. By simply adding this feature, websites are ensuring more visits to their site.

Social networking is a huge way to market to consumers, with 34% believing that businesses should be involved with a social network, while 51% believe they should also interact with consumers through a networking site. After a website has established itself and has more visitors, the designers should add an online form for visitors to register for updates, newsletters or give-a-ways. This also generates new leads for the business. Credible inbound links also generate more traffic to your website and rank your site higher on the search engines.

With all of the "new" technology out there, it is far more effective for advertising dollars to utilize the web and market to consumers in the format that is easiest for them. By capitalizing on the efficiency of the web, businesses can track past search results, and optimize their pages for future searchers. Businesses can also measure numbers of web visitors, website conversion rates (Leads / Visitors), lead conversion rates (Sales from Leads / Leads), and costs per lead or per sale. With the abundance of the marketing tools available online, websites create a relationship with future and current visitors in a cost efficient and "green" way.

Earn More and Be Financially Free Through Network Marketing

People have been finding ways to make money to make life easier for them. Money that can help them support their lifestyles and provide for a comfortable, worry-free existence. Different approaches have been mixed with different reactions. While some are willing to take more risk than others, it is these risk takers who usually hit the jackpot. Many businesses have been founded with the pain of many burned attempts to strike it rich. When the internet boomed in the early nineties, everyone wanted to get into the action. Eventually when the hype went down, many investors got dragged along but some made a fortune. While there were some casualties, those that made success made it good because they were willing to try something new.

But still, the internet is still a good venue in making money, although not as profitable as before, one good idea can still provide you a good income. All you need is determination, self-discipline, a good product, a computer and an internet connection, a little business know how and computer literacy won’t hurt either. Ecommerce has been all the buzz lately, with the convenience of the internet in bringing people closer, selling your products and services has become easier to do with large numbers of potential customers.

One of the businesses that made its mark is the network marketing or also known as the multilevel marketing. Even without the internet, network marketing became a huge hit already, albeit the different types of reaction from the consumers. In a nutshell, network marketing is a form of offering your products and services via distributors. Anyone can be a distributor, when you are one, you can get income from selling your products as well as for recruiting other distributors. You also receive commission for what your recruited distributors sell and for what their recruits sell as well. This is called the downline of the original distributor.

With network marketing, you are not dependent on others or to a boss. It’s like you franchised your own line of the business. The amount you will receive depends on your diligence and commitment to your network. The more products you sell the more commission you make and the more recruits you have the more commissions you will have from them. With enough recruits, you could just wait for your commissions from their sales.

With network marketing, you get a free reign on how you run your business. Also you get financial freedom and would be able to impart these with other people. You can get your friends and family to join in on the business and watch each other grow businesswise. This is as valuable as the profits you are going to make. But like all businesses network marketing is not without its risks. There is no guarantee that it will succeed. But many have, so this all depends on your willingness and the product being marketed.

Look for products that are used everyday by people. Or, try out a product that is new and innovative, try to see if it has a potential by test marketing the product or the service which is rendered. Check if you yourself would use it. You must be very knowledgeable about your product because people are going to ask questions about it, and that’s good. If you get the curiosity of the people, chances are they are interested.

Network Marketing doesn’t grow overnight. Be patient that is one of the beauties of network marketing. Your marketing strategy is done by word of mouth. The more people you recruit the better the chances to saturate the market with information about your product. You don’t have to spend oodles of dollars for big TV ads or newsprint ads. Add the internet into the picture and you get advertising in which tens of millions of people could see allover the world.

Many people think that network marketing is wrong because you’re just setting up other people to compete with you. That is not the case. What you get is a sales force and free advertising. You will still get a percentage in their sales while cutting down on your own personal selling time. Network marketing promotes teamwork, partnership and ties to the community. With Network marketing, there are no real losers.

Internet Marketing Pitfalls - Newbie Beware

There are many places you can find people who can help teach you the ins and outs of Internet Marketing but be fore warned. Some of the people who will give you advice don't really know what they are talking about. They are just handing you third hand information that they heard from someone else, it sounds good, but they haven't even tried it. So they REALLY don't know what they are talking about.

Another thing to watch out for are the so called Guru's. Yes there are people who live, eat, sleep and breath Internet Marketing. They know all there is to know about how to make money using the tactics they have adopted. So you might be asking right now...

Why should I watch out for the Guru's when they know it all?

You would think that they would be EXCELLENT mentors right? The thing is that they can send out an email and the next day they have $10,000 in their bank accounts. That is because they have existing lists. YOU DON'T! And it has been a very long time since this mentor has had to start from scratch (in most cases).

Also, because they have YEARS under their belt, they might have forgotten what it was like to be a newbie. So when they are teaching you, quite often they miss small but crucial pieces of the puzzle. It is these small pieces of the puzzle that will either make you rich or make you give up.

There are literally thousands of people willing to give you a hand. Just be careful what hand you take. You might be getting information that is either incomplete, obsolete or incorrect.

The best advice I can give you is to not jump at the first offer for mentorship that you run across. Even if it is free! Especially if it is free.

If someone offers to be your mentor, check into their credentials. How long they have been doing Internet Marketing, how successful they have been, if they have a product of their own that they sell, if they personally have affiliates for that product, etc...

Something else you could do is ask around. Find a Forum of Internet Marketers and ask some of the members there if they have heard of so-and-so.

Speaking of Forums, it is highly recommended that you join a forum. They are free and full of very valuable information. I suggest that if you do check out the Internet Marketer's Forums, just look around for awhile to get the feel for it. If something you read raises a question, use the forums search tool to see if there is a post that can answer it.
