Why Google cannot and will not penalise websites that have more than 100 links on a web page.

Dispelling Google's 100 Link Limit Myth
Why is it that so many people think having more than 100 links on a webpage is going to get you banned or black flagged by Google? and how did Google gain so much power over the way we us website designers build our websites to the point that we think they dictate how many links we can have?

Well, lets face facts, Google own the search market. Almost 70% of World Wide Internet users, use Google as their preferred search engine. In Australia its closer to 90%. Google now run the search market and certainly at this point in time they have the best search algorithms and the best results shown in the SERP's.

Do we have to pander to Google and the way they want us to build and exist on the Internet in the form of our websites? Does this mean that we should have less than 100 links on any given web page just because we are scared of what they may think?

Well, I am fairly sure most of us have a list of friends that could extend well past 100 people - if each of these have a website and we then put links from a contacts page on our website can we reasonably expect Google to look at this page unfavourably? Probably not. So, maybe the 100 links is just a guideline not to get too carried away with links on web pages? Probably so!

Another good example of a website page that often has more than 100 links is a sitemap page - most websites have a sitemap and in many cases the list of links extends well beyond 100 - particulary for product catalogs and product ranges and yet they are not getting banned? It is most likely that website links that point to other internal web pages are treated differently.

Google and its search algorithms are very smart so their is much evidence that they can tell the difference between a legitimate list of 200 links on a website and a web page with the very same website links that is designed only for the purposes of a link farm.

So, to this end, lets dispell the rumours, myths and put an end to this 100 link limit. Build your website the way you want, with as many links as you, set out and structured how you want. Forget about limiting the amount of links if it is appropriate for you to be putting that many links on a website on one web page. Be smart, think like a search engine would when it looks at a webpage. Don't link to 100's of other websites from one webpage but don't be scared to link from your website.

Advantages of an Online Site Builder

There are numerous choices when it comes to building web sites. One of the first choices you will have to make is whether to use an online or offline site builder.

Site Builders

Site builders can be divided into two categories, online and offline. An online site builder creates a web site with web forms over the Internet. With an online site builder, there is no need to install any special software. You only need an Internet browser.

An offline site builder is a program that you install on a computer from a disc or a download. This type of site builder requires that a site is first built on the computer with the software, then uploaded, often with a separate piece of software.

A good online site builder has several advantages over an offline site builder. For starters, and online site builder is always there regardless of where you are accessing the Internet. You can easily work with it from home, the office or on the road. With an offline builder, you need to be on the Internet, have the builder software installed and usually have a separate FTP program installed. From this perspective, an online site builder is clearly the better choice.

Users – Get Off My Cloud

In selecting a builder, one should keep in mind the number of people who will be working on the site. If there are more than two, chaos can ensue with an offline builder. Building a site requires some tedious work. Nothing is more frustrating than uploading changes only to discover you were updating a version of the page that subsequently has been updated by others working on the site. Many a new cussword has been created in such instances.
An online site builder almost always allows for multiple users and, by definition, always contains the updated version of pages. This simple aspect limits confusion and helps avoid duplication of work. Admittedly, it cuts down on the creation of new cusswords, but we must all sacrifice something.

Other Advantages:

1. Online site builders often use databases to store web site information rather than separate files for every page. This makes web sites much more scalable in the long run and allows for different sorting techniques.

2. Good online site builders will also be backed-up on a daily basis, so your work is always double protected. Not all online site builders provide backups, so make sure the site builder you choose does.

3. Online site builders also generally offer a selection of templates to use that make it a lot easier to build sites.
Instead of having to create the entire site, many online site builders allow you to focus solely on the content of your site and do not require you to learn HTML.

Online site builder are usually easy to use, don't require much computer experience, are portable and can save you time. Before you build a site, it is worth your time to consider your online site builder options.

Adsense Template Tips To Income And Sucess

What does small and big websites have in common? Two words. Adsense templates.

From the time adsense and adsense templates had been introduced, it has proven to be one of the most effective ways of generating more money over the Internet. You can never see a site without one of these ads plastered in some part of their pages. It does not matter what your site is catering to. The only thing important is the presence of these adsense templates.

Although a lot of site owners have used these ads to their advantage, there are still those who have not. If you are just one of those wanting to have one of these adsense templates into your site, you surely would want to know how to make the most of the templates.

How do you use adsense templates to generate you more advantage and income?

Simple website layout.

Try to maintain the simplicity in your site. Not only will your visitors find it easy to search on the things they need, but your ads will clearly be visible. Putting on too much graphics, pictures or flashes can definitely divert your visitors from clicking on your ads. If the primary purpose of your site is to generate more adsense income, then focus more on getting people to click on the ads. Give your adsense the space they deserve where people can see them the instant they come into your site.

Adsense template design.

Put your adsense in the place where you think they will be more profitable. You would also want to make sure that they go well with the colors you are using on your site. You would not want them to be overridden by the background colors you are using.
Try to keep them as visible and as complementary to your site as possible. Check out other sites that are using adsense. See how they position their ads and how you react to them.

Articles.

Put articles that are very much related to your target market and what your site is about. It is best to write out original articles with contents that people do not get to read everyday.
You can also make use of ghostwriters to supply you with original contents if you think that writing is way beyond you. Just make sure that the contents are original to avoid being accused of duplicating other articles.

Keeping track of who comes in and out of your site.

Having a close watch over the people that are visiting your site is necessary if you want to keep track of the income your site is generating. Get to know what ads people are clicking more on. You may want to pattern those that are being ignored to those that are being clicked often.

If you find that none of your adsense or pages are being visited much, then maybe the other aspects of your sites are causing these problems. Check out your keywords or your topics.

Generating traffic.

Even if your site is the best looking site over the Internet, it would not matter one bit if traffic is not coming your way. No visitors simply means no income. And even if you are using the best adsense template around, if you have not planned your strategy correctly, then all your efforts will result to nothing in the end.

Web Site Design – Focus, Focus, Focus

When creating a web site design, it is easy to fall into the trap of trying to be all things to all people. In reality, the key to a good web site design is focus.

We Don’t Need No Stink’n Distractions

It happens ever few weeks or so. I am sitting in front of the computer contemplating the meaning of life, i.e., why my numbers aren’t being picked in the California lottery. A frustrated person calls and wants to know why their site isn’t converting. Shaking myself from my revelry, I valiantly pull up their site and here is what I find.
A mess.

The front page is a mass of blinking this and floating that. In really nasty situations, there will be something like a banner telling me the weather conditions in some city. As if I cared. I don’t even look at the weather in San Diego. Okay, we don’t really have any, but that isn’t the point.

The point is a site must have focus to covert traffic into revenue. This is known as the rule of one. Every page of a site should focus on one subject, product, thing, picture or whatever is relevant to your site.If you have a page devoted to disco shirts with huge lapels, then everything on the page should focus on disco shirts with huge lapels. Typically, such a page would consists of brief text describing the disco shirts, thumbnails of the shirts and prices. The page should not include disco cds for sale. The cds should get their own page.

Don’t believe me?

Then let us kneel at the alter of Google. The Google Adsense program is designed to let you put Google advertisements on your site. To put the ads up, you simply copy and paste a script provided by Google. Once the site is republished, each page with script will show Google ads. If you look at each page, you will note the script produces different ads for different pages. Further, the ads on each page correspond to the subject matter on the page.

Why does Google do this?

Because ads that are relevant to the focus of the page will be clicked more than ads that are not. Put another way, the Adsense program is designed to focus on a single subject matter. The rule of one rears its head again.

Are you seeing a trend here?

If your site isn’t converting well, analyze the pages to see if you are focusing on one topic. If you have a weather banner on your site, there better be a very, very good reason.

How To Know What To Pay For Web Design

How do you know what to pay for web design? Do you go strictly on what you can afford or what you need? Web design is the creative presentation similar to the printed brochure, but that is where the similarity stops. Unlike a printed brochure, your web site is interactive. It is seen by millions of people. It is not limited to the hundred or even thousand that your sales people send and use as a leave behind after an in-person sales presentation. People visiting your website can respond instantly in ways other than a telephone call. Visitors can buy your products and services immediately. These are just a few of the differences.

Most people know about these differences. But when deciding what to pay for your website, these differences make a good yardstick. Another consideration is to weigh the outcome you want from your website.

1. Use your company brochure as a yardstick.

Let's not make this comparison using an investment in the popular tri-fold brochure. That's like comparing apples to oranges to use a tired old cliche. No, let's use your company's capabilities brochure. Say you ordered copywriting, graphic design and printing for a full-size 8 1/2 x 11 inch, 4-color brochure, 8 pages with a 4-page cover that weighs a bit more than the interior pages. This is a typical format. What do you suppose the cost is for your new capabilities brochure. $500? $800? $1200? If you own a capabilities brochure such as the one I just described, you know that the copy probably ran from $400-$800; graphic design $400 - $800; and 4-color printing and bindery $800 - $1200. Your total cost is from $1600 - $2800 and you haven't distributed one brochure to a potential buyer. Also, you have not factored in in the envelope cost, cover letter cost, enclosed business card cost, and postage. Yikes! It is starting to be clear just what a printed brochure can cost. Now, ponder on the redo costs if you need to make any changes to the copy, such as your telephone number, address, new products. It is a big bite out of the old apple, isn't it. You are going to need a complete redo and reprint. Ouch!

The investment in a website looks pretty good right now, doesn't it?

2. Now, let's look at the outcome you want from your website.

Sales! Most businesses have a website to support sales. Directly or indirectly. A standard brochure web design and development investment less than $2800 is going to have a higher outcome than that capabilities brochure. There's no doubt about it. But if you want to enable your web site to accept payment online, you're going to need a shopping cart. What about a way for people to signup for your mailing list. Do you want to add a newsletter to your site. Articles? Blog? RSS feed? Forum? Chat? Photo gallery?

These web enhancements turn your site into a unique landing place that people want to visit and buy from. Security features add credibility to further show visitors your business is real and can be trusted.

All these enhancements support your overall outcome to build sales revenue using the web as a new business channel. If that's your planned outcome, spare no expense to create the web site you need to deliver results: Your full-featured web site - loaded with special enhancements - suited for your particular business pay for itself ... easily. It is an investment, not a cost like your printed brochure.

When deciding on the funding you want to earmark for your website, keep in mind that it is a valuable business asset and profit center. Custom web design is an investment in future sales.

So how do you know what to pay for web design? Compare the investment to what you would pay for a capabilities brochure and then weigh the final outcome you want your web site to produce.

What is Flash Text Animation?

Flash text animation is exactly what it sounds like. On your web page, you turn plain text into text that is moving, full of colors and life. It looks even better than it sounds, trust me. Flash text animation is growing more and more popular, and graphic designers are finding that flash text animation gives web site a high-tech, glossy, more professional look.

Sure, you can have plain text on your site. But when your competition has flashing, animated, interesting text, viewers may like those sites better – which can be bad for business. In the world of the Internet, having page viewers is the key to success. You want people to come to your site, so you have to keep up with (and even outdo) the competition. Flash text animation is a great way to get your site looking professional, interesting, and lively.

How Flash Text Animation Can Help You

Flash text animation will make your site look more interesting graphically, giving it an overall well-done feel and professionalism. This will bring visitors back time and again, and help to draw in traffic for your site. The average Internet cruiser looks at twenty to forty different sites a day – having flash text animation on your site can help set you apart from the rest. You want visitors not only to come to your site, but also to remember your web site. This will bring in repeat visitors, which means more business for you and your site.

Flash text animation very simply looks good, and people want their web sites to look good. It makes your site a more lively and interesting piece of the Internet to visit, and will make you look like a professional web site designer. No one has to know how easy flash text animation can really be.

Flash Text Animation Programs

To be honest, designing your own flash text animation can be a very long and tedious process. You have to really know what you’re doing and go through a series of careful steps before you get any hint of animation to your text at all. Even very clever web site designers have trouble designing flash text animation.

And because it’s so hard, there are about a thousand programs you can get online to make the whole thing a lot easier. That’s one of the reasons the Internet is so great – it’s great for taking shortcuts. If carefully designing your text and spending hours and hours working with the bones of your web site doesn’t sound appealing, don’t worry – that doesn’t sound appealing to many people.

There are many free flash text animation programs that you can find online, and download for your own personal use. Using flash text animation programs is usually as simple as clicking some buttons and working your way through some pull-down menus. In a matter of minutes, you can add flash text animation to your site without a lot of hassle or even web site design. A simple search on the Internet will yield many different programs that you can try for free to create your own flash text animation.

Flash Text Animation

If it makes your site look better, if it’s easy to do, and if it means more traffic to your site, there’s no reason not to give it a try. Flash text animation will give your site a professional look that you and your visitors will enjoy.

Advice to help small business owners check code in their web site design.

Key visitors to your commercial pages include web robots that crawl the internet and catalog your content. Having proper HTML source code, plus the right combination of text and graphic presentation, is just one secret to success. Proper code may mean higher robot ratings, and the "look" is equally important. Once a new prospect finds your web site, you have 5 seconds to get them to stay.

As a small business web site owner, you may have asked "Why don't we get any hits?". Did you know web pages can load and appear correct with improper or deprecated HTML code? A browser may ignore your mistakes, and display what it thinks you meant, and it may look great. Web robots may not be as forgiving.

Following is a list of 8 basic elements for good search engine placement that need to be considered in your design and web site promotion. For details on code issues from the worldwide authority, visit the World Wide Web Consortium to view DOCTYPE and other quality standards.

1. DOCTYPE Statement

2. Page Title
3. Proper HTML Code
4. META Description
5. META Key Words
6. First Paragraph of the Home Page
7. An Extra Page of Just LINKS
8. Backlinks (Links to your pages)

These 8 key items are either missing or poorly designed in 85% of all web sites. Some search engines may only list the other 15% in their directories. In other words, as few as 15% of the 6 billion web pages online ever make it into some search engines. Even worse, there are mistakes that may result in your page being blacklisted, and the search engine web crawlers may never come back to see if it's corrected. This could explain why you "never get any hits".

Web sites can be simple and professional without using fancy software to create your pages. Veteran programmers hand code and many create the HTML in NotePad. Web authors who choose to use flash, frames, or the latest software may be losing a significant portion of new visitors (customers) because the visitor may lack the technology or newest version of browsers. If they are turned off and leave without giving your site a fair viewing, it could mean lost profits.

Most designers use prepackaged software to create web pages. If the software leaves out any of the key elements, the code is hidden, and you'll never know your site was not optimized for search engines. The designer may not know, or care, about these items as long as the page looks attractive. Note: Search engine algorithms vary by company, so some elements such as "an extra page of links" may not be as important today with some search robots. Backlinks refer to marketing your site and getting other web sites to link to yours.

Finally, business visitors want information. They do not visit your home page to be entertained. Most have a need (problem) and want a fast answer (solution), so designs should be created to minimize the use of music or video unless that's your core business. Anything that distracts from a positive first impression may violate my "5 Second Rule".
