But if the roots — the channels that bring nutrients to the tree (and visitors to your site) — aren’t strong and developed, it doesn’t matter how healthy the leaves look, that tree is never going to amount to much.
If you want a site that gives you healthy revenues, you need to make sure that the traffic roots that you spread out across the Web are bringing you a steady stream of valuable users.
